Partners skill cover multi-disciplinary expertise needed to tackle the complex issue of grape vine summer/winter pruning automation through robotic technologies.
Plant growth, grapevine physiology, canopy management, fruit quality, precision viticulture (UCSC), robotic dual-arm/hand manipulation, force control, nonprehensile object manipulation, visual servoing, human-robot interaction (IIT) are the main fields covered by the partners’ expertise.
As an ultimate deliverable of this project, IIT will develop a quadruped robot mobile platform with a customized robotic arm and multi-sensors. Manipulation technologies will also be evlauated on a transitional prototype of wheeled mobile manipulator before implemeted on to the final robot.
